Obituary of Scott M. Sabella
Scott M. Sabella, age 51, of Morris, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, at home surrounded by family. He was born in Chicago, IL, to Greg and Sandy Sabella on March 11, 1972.
Scott worked for many years in auto sales and finance, most recently at Bill Walsh Honda in Ottawa. It was through his work that he met his wife Kelly, and the two were married on April 27, 2002, and most recently celebrated 21 years of marriage. He was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan and a classic car enthusiast. He especially enjoyed showing off his ’68 Mustang at Morris Cruise Night. He was known for his passionate sideline support of his son and the Morris Redskins, and family Sunday dinners and pool parties.
Scott was a remarkable man, who was funny and full of life. He would light up any room he entered and was always the life of the party. He battled his illness for years with strength and dignity, never letting it take the smile from his face. He was an amazing and loving husband and father and was affectionately known as Fave by his grandkids.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Sabella; his children, Haley (Michael) Long, Alexis Burke, and Vincenzo “Vinnie” Sabella; his grandchildren, Elliana and Scottie; his parents, Greg and Sandy Sabella; his mother-in-law, Katy (Mike) Bortel and father-in-law, Dennis (Deborah) Burke; his sister, Debbie Geron; sister-in-law, Erin (Mike) Lucido; and niece, Nicolette Geron. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Angelina Marie Sabella.
Visitation for Scott M. Sabella will be Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. U.S. Route 6 in Morris. Funeral services will be the next morning, Friday, June 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Scott’s name to the American Kidney Fund would be appreciated.
